The Lions Hearing Foundation of Western Australia was established in 1977 by District Governor Don MacGregor to focus on hearing conservation and helping the hearing impaired. Spearheaded by Arthur and Lorna Dodd, it began with a “Help to Hear” mobile screening bus that traveled across the state. The foundation later expanded to include the Lions Hearing Centres at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital (1984) and Joondalup Medical Campus (1988). Today, the legacy continues through a parntneship of understanding with the Ear Science Institute Australia, which operates the Lions Hearing Clinics which has grown into a comprehensive research and clinical service.
